2. pH balance
The pH of your water can be affected by a number of factors, including geography, temperature, and biological loading. Swings in pH can require you to constantly add chemicals to bring the pH into balance. When PoolProof is added to water, it acts as a buffer solution which resists changes in pH when small quantities of an acid or an alkali are added to it. Since the pH change in pools is not dramatic, PoolProof can remove hydrogen ions or hydroxide ions that are introduced into the water that cause the pH to change. It also reduces the eye irritation caused by hypoclorous acid formed by chlorine and reduces lime scale and corrosion.
3. Extends the life of chemicals Many of the algaecides and sanitizers that are used in pools tend to flash off when exposed to sunlight. PoolProof discourages this chemical reaction and allows these chemicals to last longer in your pool or spa so you spend less money on chemicals.
4. Reduces pump time
The addition of PoolProof to your pool or spa will allow you to run your pump less often. Because PoolProof harmonizes your water there is less need for filtering. PoolProof users have reported pump reduction times any where from 30% to 60%. Reducing pump time conserves energy and saves money.
5. Makes water smooth and silky
When PoolProof is added to your water, the borate rejuvenates the layers of dry skin on your body and creates a smooth lotion feel on your skin. So instead of feeling dried out after you leave the water, your skin has a silky smooth feel.
How to Use PoolProof
PoolProof comes as a pre-mixed, ready-to-use liquid. It is compatible with all materials used in the normal maintenance of swimming pools, including saltwater pools and spas.
Using the table below, add the correct amount of material in your pool water to achieve a minimum of 36 ppm of boron. For the first application, mix 1 (one) gallon of PoolProof to every 3000 gallons of pool water, and mix 1/6 gallon to every 500 gallons of spa water. SHAKE WELL before pouring into pool over the top of one of the outflow jets while pump is operating. Rinse empty container with pool water and add to pool. Run pump to achieve complete turnover, then test the ph level. It should be 7.27.8.
PoolProof Usage Table
Water loss from filter backwash, splash-out, rainfall draining or winterizing draw down will reduce the amount of PoolProof. Use a Boron Indicator Test to maintain 3650 ppm of boron and add product as needed. PoolProof does not evaporate and is not degraded by sunlight.
If your pool or spa size is not listed, add or subtract PoolProof using the table to help calculate the specific amount of product you need.
A pool that has been treated with PoolProof will remain sparkling clear during the winter season with minimal effort. Before shutting the pool down for the winter, test the water to make sure that an adequate level of PoolProof is present, approximately 40 ppm.
