    Integrated Mosquito Control Protocol

Understanding Mosquito Habits and Life Cycle

Mosquitoes have 4 life stages, eggs, larvae, pupae and adults. Mosquitoes are active at dawn and dusk and can be on multiple hosts, including but not limited to humans and pets.

Females lay their eggs in water. The eggs hatch in 1 to 3 days, and the emerging larvae will go through 4 molts, which can last from 7 days to several weeks. The pupal stage or tumbler sate can take between 2 days or up to a few weeks. During the 4th molt, the pupal skin splits and the adults emerge.

While adult females require a blood meal to produce eggs, males primarily feed on plant nectar. Females live 1 to 2 months during warm weather and as long as 6 month in cold weather.

Males live for 6 to 7 days.

    Inspection:

Inspect the entire yard for harborage and breeding areas (shady areas, and heavy foliage) then remove all standing water and conducive breeding conditions. Determine which type of equipment best meets the needs of the job, a hand held device, backpack sprayer, fogger or misting system. You will also to need to take into consideration your budget, starting as low as $30.00 but going all the way up to $3000.00 for mosquito control options.

One May need to cut down trees, remove harborage areas and trim excessive vegetation to get better control. Standing water is never a good thing and should be removed. Before your treat remove all you pets belongings, toys and other items in the yard. Make sure you have turned off your sprinklers, so that they do not turn on right after spraying the area for mosquitoes. How long the treatment will last depends greatly on what chemical is used, how it is applied and the weather conditions. Consider a misting system if you want the top level of control at the touch of a button.

Treat all harborage areas, including, shaded areas, foliage, shrubs and areas with little air movement with a tank of some type of insecticide Onsalught is a good choice and adding Nygard and Exponent will give it the 1, 2, 3 punch you mosquito control protocol needs. For breeding ground that cannot be eliminated, use Nygard or some type of larvacide altosid or mosquito dunks are a great option. You are looking for stagnant water, that has no movement, this is the breeding ground for mosquitoes. Do not apply Nygard to natural bodies of water or active waterways.

Recommened rates for Onsalught 0.5 fl oz per gallon of water, Nygard 4 to 12 ml per gallon Exponent 0.35 fl per gallon of water

Apply 4 to 12 ml per gallon of water to Standing water only. Re-inspect in 1-2 weeks. Onslaught can be reapplied in 7 days.

      • Target pests: Fleas, Stored Product Pests, listed Roaches (German, Asian, and Brown-banded, Crickets, Litter Beetles, and Flying Insects

      Nyguard Insect Growth Regulator 110ml

110 ml NyGuard IGR Concentrate is new Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) technology which delivers Best in Class IGR Performance.

Now you can effectively break the reproductive cycle of your toughest insect pests. NyGuard is the Insect Growth Regulator with the broadest spectrum of insects on its label. NyGuard is over 10 times more active than Gentrol.

NyGuard is effective indoors and outdoors. NyGuard may be used in food and non-food areas. NyGuard's active ingredient is Pyriproxyfen, an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR), which is a juvenile hormone mimic (JHM). This insect control system prevents pest developments. The naturally occurring juvenile hormone regulates and stimulates the developmental process of insects. High concentrations of juvenile hormone stimulate the molting process. The level of juvenile hormone then drops to low levels, which leads to normal maturation of the larvae (larva to pupa, pupa to adult, or nymph to adult molt).

NyGuard insect control system interferes with this synchronized balance of hormones during the molting process. Treatment with NyGuard IGR introduces and maintains high concentrations of juvenile hormone mimic at critical points during the insect developmental process. Thus, normal maturation of larvae or nymphs is prevented. The result is the insect stays in an immature stage indefinitely. When this happens the insects with complete metamorphosis will continue to molt from larva to larva until it dies. Insects with incomplete metamorphosis will remain in nymph stage, or have morphological deformation, maturing into sterile, non-reproductive adults. This insect control system will keep your infestation problem from getting out of control. NyGuard IGR disrupts the normal metamorphosis process of immature insects. Pest Control Treatment with NyGuard will disrupt the growth, development and reproduction in many insect species in a manner that is environmentally acceptable. The biological results in the target insects are most commonly death or deformity with sterility. NyGuard IGR does not kill adult insects. For best results, use NyGuard in combination with an insecticide that will kill existing populations of insects. Once the active insect populations have been eliminated, NyGuard insect control system will remain to disrupt the maturation of eggs or other immature stages of the insect population. NyGuard insect growth regulator controls 29 types of insects, including ants, cockroaches, crickets, fleas, flies, moths and stored product pests. Effective both indoors and outdoors, NyGuard IGR can also be used in food areas with no set back. The formula lasts up to seven months and can be applied via carpet shampoo, diluted spray or ULV/fogger. NyGuard insect control system causes morphological abnormalities in eggs, larvae or nymphs, preventing them from maturing into reproductive adults. It can also be used in conjunction with a non-IGR insecticide when adults are present to act as a residual to disrupt immature that have yet to emerge.

      Exponent Insecticide Synergist

Exponent® Insecticide Synergist works by tying up the enzymes that break down insecticide active ingredients. This improves the knockdown and kill rate of the primary insecticide.

Power up your insect control program - Tank-mix Exponent Insecticide Synergist with Pyrethroids, Carbamates or Abamectin insecticides and raise their performance to a higher level.

Insecticide synergist - increases the insects' susceptibiity to the tank mix partner.

Growing crops - Can be used on most growing crops.

Program component - Important component in an insect resistance management program

      Exponent® Insecticide Synergist

Exponent has no insecticidal properties of its own. It is only made to be mixed with other liquid insecticides to make them more effective.

Exponent will increase the speed of kill and level of control of pyrethroids, fogging solutions and other insecticide concentrates including Onslaught. Exponent is an emulsifiable concentrate and can be mixed directly with other liquid insecticide mixtures to aid in the control of target insects.
