Pest Control expensive and I’m on a fixed income

In SC we have several varieties of roaches. Currently, I have a pest company that comes quarterly to spray. It’s expensive and I’m on a fixed income. I’m looking for a less costly solution. The chemicals they use are pet friendly, though I don’t have pets (I just don’t want them to be too toxic for me!)Any suggestions? Will I need to mix anything? Buy a sprayer?
