Fire Ants are pest of the southern states, and man do we hate them.
Native fire ants rarely become a structural pest, meaning they invade your home or office. But the Red Imported Fire Ant and black Imported Fire Ant have spread to well over 13 southern and western states and every year continue to expand. These Fire Ants cause serious medical, agricultural and property damage, not to mention they are a pain to deal with. Because the red imported fire ant is so aggressive and will sting numerous times, especially when you mess with their mound, we all need to take notice and eliminate their presence in our yards.
They will typically nest outdoors in the sunny areas, in soil or lawns.
Mounds can have upwards of 80,000 ants.
Their Feeding Preferences are high protein foods, but will feed on almost any plant or animal matter.
They are so aggressive they can and will eliminate any other ant presence in their Territory.
Fire ant control is best achieved using a 2 step program, apply a fire ant bait and then follow up with a mound injection treatment a few days later, this method has been proven to be very effective.
For Control of Imported fire ants, bigheaded ants, and pavement ants on lawns, recreational area, golf sources and other noncrop / non grazed areas.

You can use the ascend fire ant bait as a broadcast treatment application for fire ant control.
Because fire ant forage for their food, simply spreading the bait out in a general area is very successful when it comes to controlling ants, you use 1.5 lb of Ascend Fire ant bait per acre. Usually need to retreat after 12-16 weeks if needed.
When you only need to treat a small area or a new mound that has popped up, you can use 5 to 7 level teaspoons of Ascend Fire ant bait per mound, do not disturb the mound, that includes you kickers and stick pokers. Disturbing the mound only alarms the ants and they will not pick up the bait and usually move the colony. You will want to spread it around 3 to 4 ft Around the mound and again retreat after 12-16 weeks.
